plateaus and shelves! Empty plateaus and shelves!

What if the SM's had all sorts of plateaus, shelves and other weird, flat rock formations, putting most all of the mountains in shadow? Or maybe there's only a few. I don't think it would make the mountains unrealistic either. As always, just an idea!

Jutting other mountains in shadow? I think that's a bit large. And by a bit, I mean extremely. Plus, realize that all these plateaus would be subject to weathering on a mass scale.

I do like the idea of some smaller plateaus spread throughout the mountains through. Perhaps sticking out of the side of a mountain opposite of the wind, shielding it from weathering over time.

I wasn't think they'd be putting whole Mountains in shadow... just large portions of area on the sides of such mountains. its hard to define "smaller" or "larger" when your talking about mountains... in relation to the mountain, they would be very small, but in relation to a person they would be large If you think about it, they don't even need to be "jutting out" of the side very much to shield a larger portion of land farther down.

a size maybe? a few thousand square feet on average. (not sure how many sq ft the main floor of the newark library is... but i'd guess around 2k. just putting things in perspective)

I think when I said "putting most all of the mountains in shadow" it made it seem like they were gigantic. Razz

I like this idea. It would help a BIT to explain the name of the mountain range.

I say roll with it. We could have a couple that are bigger than the others that I can come up with names for! This excites me tremendously.

How would we like to finalize this idea?
